DUBAI (Reuters) -Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Thursday agreed on initiating pressing negotiations to finalize an settlement between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan on the filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the foundations of its operations, a joint assertion stated.
The assertion talked about the 2 leaders will make all the required efforts to finalize the settlement in 4 months.
Egypt and Ethiopia, Sudan’s two largest neighbours, have been at odds in recent times over the development of the large hydroelectric dam on the Blue Nile, near the border with Sudan.
