BALTIMORE – Main as much as Veterans Day, Afro Information hosted a “Salute to our Veterans” which acknowledges Black veterans throughout generations, from World Warfare II by at the moment.
The celebration of Black veterans was held Tuesday on the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore.

Afro Information was based in 1892 by John H. Murphy Sr., a previously enslaved Civil Warfare sergeant.
On the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, his granddaughter, Frances Murphy Draper, now CEO and writer of Afro Information, hosted the inaugural “Salute to our Veterans.”
“We have plenty of veterans right here at the moment and we need to cease and say thanks to your service,” stated Draper. “We’ve got been honoring veterans nearly the complete lifetime of our 131-year existence.”
For greater than a century, Afro Information has highlighted untold tales, hardships, and triumphs of the African-American neighborhood.
It is a pioneer in documenting firsthand battle accounts courting again to World Warfare II.

The “Salute to our Veterans” honored courageous women and men who served our nation, together with Maj. Gen. Janeen Birckhead, retired Maj. Edgar Brookings and retired Col. Edna Cummings.

Supporters like Woods emphasize the sacrifices and contributions of our nation’s Black heroes.
“Whenever you then go ahead to then put your life on the road for a rustic that traditionally could not have at all times appreciated you, that may be a testomony to Black Individuals love for this nation and it is a privilege to be part of that custom myself,” Woods stated.
In celebration of Veterans Day, Afro Information has reprinted its 1945 e-book titled, “That is our Warfare,” a compilation of wartime experiences.
